China was once the world’s most populous nation, but in recent years its birth rate has been falling. While more people are choosing to have fewer or no children, there has been a rise in pet ownership. Pets are on track to outnumber toddlers two to one by the year 2030, and the trend is causing a boom in an industry dedicated to caring for pets.
