A growing housing crisis in the Netherlands is forcing multiple generations to live under one roof, as rising prices and a shortage of affordable homes leave families with few options.
Years of privatisation, limited construction, and an ageing population have worsened the shortage. While some municipalities are converting empty office buildings into apartments to address the problem, frustration is growing among residents.
Many blame newcomers and refugees for getting housing priority, while others argue that scapegoating ignores the deeper structural issues.
With demand outpacing supply, the question remains whether the government can resolve the crisis anytime soon.
