The European bloc known as the E3, which is made up of France, the UK, and Germany, has triggered the process to reimpose all UN sanctions on Iran. They did this using what's called the 'snapback' mechanism in the 2015 Iran nuclear deal. European leaders had threatened to bring back the sanctions—that were lifted under the nuclear deal—if Iran didn't allow inspectors into the country and resume talks.
