US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth is in Singapore to meet defence officials from around the Asia-Pacific at the Shangri-La dialogue - that's the region's most important defence forum.
He's expected to discuss the threat of China to the area, but Beijing has not sent a senior official to the meeting.
