Venezuelan migrants, disheartened by tightened US immigration rules, are abandoning their journeys north and returning home. Many who crossed the perilous Darien jungle on foot now face dangerous sea routes back, controlled by criminal groups exploiting them. The cost of returning is high, both financially and emotionally, as dreams of supporting families crumble. Some migrants opt to stay in Colombia, while others are determined to reach Venezuela with little left. Humanitarian resources are stretched, with over 3,500 migrants crossing into Colombia this year alone, highlighting a growing crisis. For many, the journey north proved unworthy of the risk, leaving them with nothing but shattered hopes.
