Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide says the situation in Gaza is “dire” as it is not clear if the war is over or not, as the ceasefire in the enclave is “fragile”.
“We can either move forward or it will go backwards: If we do not move into phase two, we will either see a return to war or descent into anarchy,” he told Al Jazeera’s Ali Hashem from the Doha Forum.
“And we don’t want either of those, so we have to move forward,” the top diplomat stressed.
He said that the relevant parties are trying to identify “the concrete steps” to be taken right now to move into the next stage.
