The Road World Championships, a prestigious event in cycling's calendar, is making history by being held in Africa for the first time.
Rwanda's capital, Kigali, is set to host the event, bringing together amateur and professional cyclists from around the globe.
The city's challenging terrain, known for its numerous hills, promises to test even the most seasoned riders.
With 13 world titles to be decided over eight days of racing, the championships are expected to draw significant crowds, prompting the closure of many schools and businesses in Kigali.
This landmark event builds on Rwanda's growing reputation in the cycling world, with the Tour du Rwanda already an established fixture on the international circuit.
The championships not only offer a unique opportunity for amateur riders to experience world-class competition but also showcase Africa's capacity to host major sporting events.

Al Jazeera's Andy Richardson reports from Kigali, Rwanda.
