Gabon is heading to the polls on Saturday for its first elections since the 2023 military coup ended the decades of rule by a single family - the Bongos.
Despite pledges to return to civilian authority, the coup leader is now a candidate, competing against the former prime minister.
The interim government has implemented reforms, but critics say the politics in Gabon remain unchanged.
