Over the past year and a half, there has been a growing sense of war fatigue among Ukrainians, both on the front lines and among civilians.
With Russia controlling about 20% of the country, many now believe these territories will never be regained.
Despite the hard facts presented by the Trump administration, there is a quiet but sad relief that a plan for peace seems to be in the works, no matter how painful it may be.
However, there is also concern about future security, given the possibility of reduced US military support.
Al Jazeera’s Charles Stratford has been speaking to Ukrainians in the capital Kyiv, about the peace talks.
