For two years, Sudan’s conflict has brought education to a standstill, especially in Khartoum, where the fighting was most intense. While authorities say they’re working to restore the education system, many communities are not waiting. In several districts, residents have taken matters into their own hands, setting up makeshift schools and repairing classrooms.
