A powerful storm system is battering the Gaza Strip, worsening already dire living conditions for hundreds of thousands of Palestinians sheltering in flimsy tents.
Heavy rain is flooding camp areas, with families digging trenches as water seeps into their shelters.
Israel continues to heavily restrict humanitarian aid, despite the US-brokered ceasefire, leaving critical shortages of proper shelter materials.
Civil defence teams warn residents to avoid damaged buildings after several unstable structures collapsed in Gaza City.
Up to 15 centimetres of rain is expected in 48 hours—nearly two months’ worth—deepening the crisis.
Aid groups say 1.5 million people are living in makeshift shelters and 300,000 mobile homes are urgently needed.
