Pakistan's Karachi port has handled more traffic this month than in the whole of last year as ships divert from the Strait of Hormuz amid regional tensions. The country is facing a deepening energy crisis ahead of peak summer demand, with LNG supplies expected to fall to near zero from April and only 24 days of fuel stocks remaining. War risk insurance premiums have surged more than tenfold and freight rates have quadrupled. The government has introduced weekly fuel price adjustments, limited load shedding and higher electricity tariffs while pursuing diplomatic efforts to secure rerouted cargoes and de-escalation.

Al Jazeera's Kamal Hyder reports from Karachi Port, Pakistan.
