The European Union says it is responding to US steel tariffs with its own countermeasures worth $28 billion dollars, which will be implemented in two phases from April 1st.
It comes after the Trump administration imposed 25 percent tariffs on all steel and aluminium products going into the United States.
The CEO of one of the largest US aluminium makers has warned the tariffs could cost around a hundred thousand jobs.
The tariffs are driving a wedge between the US and its top iron supplier, Canada.
