Thirty years after the Bosnian war, vast areas of the country remain contaminated with landmines, leaving thousands of people living with persistent danger.
Bosnia remains one of Europe’s most mine-affected regions, and progress has slowed further since the withdrawal of the last foreign humanitarian demining teams earlier this year, due to shifting global crises.
Their departure has stalled clearance efforts and deepened fears among communities who continue to find mines in forests, fields and near their homes.
Local de-miners say they lack the resources to address the scale of the problem, leaving residents feeling increasingly unsafe.

Al Jazeera’s Arduana Pribinja reports from Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
